The Site: The Regeneration.

Ever since the plans to change the Corn Exchange into a "Specialist Food Mart" came about in 2006, the stall owners within felt that their time of selling curios and home made goods were extremely limited. Indeed, the stall holders were turfed out on the 20th Nov 2007 and offered no alternative accommodation to sell their wares from.

By using the currently dilapidated, dangerous and underused New Market Arcade as a basis for the regeneration the following is proposed:

- Reinstatement of space for small and independent retailers

- Forging of new link route between the Corn Exchange, Briggate and The Trinity Quarter by demolishing and extending the New Market Arcade.

- Creation of Exchange Square, a new central Public Space.

- Regeneration of Central Road and the buildings which face onto it.

- Redesign and regeneration of the New Market Street Bus Interchange.

a: New Market Arcade and adjacent buildings earmarked for demolition
b: Exchange Sq. and Central Road
c: New Market Street Bus interchange.
